Founded around the 4th century BC, Paphos is one of the most beautiful and historic towns in Cyprus. In ancient times, Paphos was the capital of Cyprus and home to the cult of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, who according to legend arose from the sea close to this beautiful spot.
Today, the heart of Paphos is the delightful fishing harbour near the Fort (right), lined with tavernas offering a mouth-watering selection of the day's catch, as well as numerous bars and shops. The daily market is a great favourite with tourists and locals alike. This is in the Old Town and undercover. If you hanker for familiarity then Debenhams, Next and many UK high street stores have a presence here, alongside small traditional shops and restaurants.
Paphos has much to offer the visitor. Whether you are in search of history, water-sports, good food, or just a relaxing spell on the beach, Paphos and its surroundings have it all.
There are several good beaches within Paphos itself, but the best beach in the vicinity is Coral Bay, which is a short drive or bus-ride away.
If you're feeling energetic, you can enjoy Cycling, Fishing, Go Karting, Golf, Minigolf, Swimming, Tennis, Walking, Water parks, Nightlife, pubs clubs and tavernas, magnificent mountain or National park Jeep safaris. Traditional villages with local craft workshops just a short trip away. Or my personal favourite, visit and spend some time in the small home based workshops making Cyprus Delights (used to be Turkish Delight)
you can go jet-skiing, paragliding or water-skiing.
If you want explore the rich history of the area, a visit to the district museum, the Tombs of the Kings (right), the Pillar of St. Paul and the famous mosaics are highly recommended

Golf in Cyprus
Although a fairly recent venue for the golfing traveller, Cyprus is rapidly becoming a favourite destination owing to its superb, championship courses in beautiful settings, and the mild climate allowing all-year round play.
There are now three courses on the island (all easily accessible from Paphos), and there are plans to develop five more courses on the island within the next five years.
For further information or to reserve tee time, please contact us.
Aphrodite Hills Golf Club - 18 hole, par 71, 6665m
Opened in November 2002. This brand new golf course in Aphrodite Hills is situated on 2 plateaux, 300 metres high overlooking the Mediterranean.
It is only 2 minutes from the main Limassol-Paphos highway. This championship course offers golf across a spectacular 18-hole course designed by celebrated golf course designer Cabell B. Robinson in a marvellous setting close to 'Aphrodite's Rock'.
Secret Valley Golf Club - 18 hole, par 72, 6158m
Located 18km east of Paphos, it is near 'Petra tou Romiuou' the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Set in a scenic valley with grand trees and beautiful natural formations all around.
The Club-house is in a traditional Cypriot style with locker rooms, a pro-shop, and a restaurant and bar. There is also a Golf Academy with a driving range and video coaching.
Tsada Golf Club - 18 hole, par 72, 6208m
Situated on the outskirts of Paphos (taking a turning off the main Polis road) the Tsada course is set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery some 550m above sea level.
Donald Steel designed this course in two loops of nine and calls for accuracy rather than long hitting. Tsada offers variety, as no two holes are the same and is a fair challenge for players of all abilities.
The club-house offers a prop-shop, a restaurant and bar, changing rooms with showers and saunas, a swimming pool, a driving range and a putting green.
